Castello di Spessa

On the 17th of July 2027 we will say “I do” at Castello di Spessa – a castle set among the vineyards of the Collio, in Capriva del Friuli in Italy's far north-east. First mentioned in 1326, it has watched over these hills for some seven centuries, and its guest book even includes Giacomo Casanova, who stayed here in 1773.

Today the castle is the heart of a wine estate: the surrounding vineyards produce the Collio wines that age in a cellar deep beneath the castle, and the grounds hold a centuries-old park, a golf course winding between the vines, and views over the hills in every direction.

The whole weekend takes place here – the ceremony, dinner and dancing under the stars – and you can sleep on the estate itself. See Travel for how to get there and where to stay.
