Travel
The secret is out: we're getting married at Castello di Spessa, a castle among the vineyards of the Collio in Capriva del Friuli, in the far north-east of Italy. Here's how to get there:
✈️ Venice – Marco Polo (VCE)
The largest and best-connected option, with direct flights from most European cities. From Venice it's about a 1.5-hour drive to the castle. And of course – it's Venice: come a day early and get lost in the canals.
✈️ Trieste (TRS)
The closest airport – about 25 minutes from the castle. Fewer direct routes, but small and quick to get through, and a lovely drive through the Collio awaits on the other side.
🏰 Where to stay
Everyone can stay right at the estate! Castello di Spessa has plenty of places to sleep, spread across the castle itself and the other lodgings on the estate. Rooms are booked at your own expense, come in a range of prices, and include breakfast. How and where to book will follow soon – booking won't go through this website.
🚘 Getting around
We recommend renting a car – the region is best explored on four wheels. We'll help coordinate car-pooling between guests closer to the date.
🚂 By train
Prefer the rails? The nearest station is Cormòns, about five kilometres from the castle, with regional trains from Udine, Gorizia and Trieste. From Venice, change once at Udine; from Trieste Airport, the airport has its own station with one change at Monfalcone. From Cormòns it's a ten-minute bus ride to the castle.
